Service Description

Hip Hop Experience for teens with Special Needs Dance Curriculum. The workshop will build towards a culminating performance during the last class. Students will explore the fundamentals of Hip Hop Dance while learning technique, vocabulary, dynamics and musicality. Students will also discover the origins of Hip Hop Dance and understand the elements of Hip Hop Culture. HHE combines culturally responsive teaching methods as well as multiple learning styles to enhance the educational experience for all abilities. Social Emotional Learning is embedded in the curriculum through carefully created activities and experiences. Throughout the course, students will learn a variety of movement styles that are traditional to Hip Hop Dance throughout each era. Students will have the opportunities to showcase their skills and perform. Freestyling, battling and choreography are also explored in addition to collaborating within assigned dace crews. The copyrighted curriculum follows the National Core Arts Standards for Dance (creating, performing, responding and connecting) and New Jersey's Core Curriculum Standards for Dance.
